Confessions of a Logophile

There has been a trend of macabre children's literature appearing on book store shelves everywhere, and it fascinates me!  Unlike your standard horror, these are witty, with a dollop of cuteness and humour that is utterly delightful.  "The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman is one such book and (in my opinion) is one of the best.

It tells the story of Nobody Owens, a boy who has come to live in the graveyard after his parents' murder.  He is raised by a foster family of ghosts and has grand adventures as he tries to elude trouble and The Man Jack.

This is truly a story about survival, about growing up and maturing.  About learning to live in the world, but knowing that there is more to it than meets the eye.  It's a story about love.

Give it a read.  It is sure to delight and entertain.
